SNCF supports the publication of testimonies that help to preserve essential traces of the Second World War. By giving access to words, writings and works long overlooked, these publications provide close insight into the experiences of those who lived through the war, persecution, internment or captivity.
A diary kept at the heart of the Drancy camp, drawings made between 1942 and 1947, the account of an escape after 747 days of captivity… Personal testimonies give history a voice, a face and a singular dimension.
Among the works supported are Journal d’un interné. Drancy 1942-1943 by Georges Horan-Koiransky and Le Camp de Drancy, seuil de l’enfer juif. Dessins et estampes, 1942-1947, published by Éditions Créaphis in 2017, as well as Pierre Cocostéguy’s account, Comment je me suis évadé d’Allemagne après 747 jours de captivité, published by Éditions Ikerzaleak in 2012.
So many publications that give voice to individual experiences, enrich historical knowledge and, page by page, pass on a living memory.
