Partnership with the Musée de la Résistance nationale (MRN)

SNCF is a partner of the Musée de la Résistance nationale (MRN), with which it shares a common goal: contributing to the preservation, study and transmission of the history of the Resistance and the Second World War.

Created in 1965 on the initiative of former Resistance members, the Musée de la Résistance nationale (MRN), located in Champigny-sur-Marne in the Val-de-Marne, preserves and showcases an exceptional heritage dedicated to the Resistance and the Second World War. Its collections notably include archives and documents, objects, publications from the clandestine press, and a significant photographic collection, which bear witness to the diversity of forms the Resistance took and to everyday life under the Occupation.

The MRN’s mission is to preserve these traces, develop historical research and raise wider public awareness of the history of the French Resistance. Its network also relies on several museums and sites dedicated to local themes and histories: the Resistance on the Riviera in Nice, railway workers’ Resistance in Varennes-Vauzelles and Givors, Resistance in the internment camps in Châteaubriant, the demarcation line in Bourges, and the Resistance in the Bourbonnais region in Montluçon.

SNCF supports the MRN in its work of conservation, research and transmission, as well as in showcasing its collections. This partnership notably helps raise awareness of photographic collections that are still little documented, which shed valuable light on the Occupation period and the commitment of Resistance members. Showcasing these archives thus helps preserve these testimonies and make them accessible to researchers, teachers and the general public.
