Posters

We would like to point out the existence of advertising and propaganda posters for the 1939-1945 period. All posters published during the war were required to bear, printed on the plate, the mark ORAFF followed by a series of numbers. This is the stamp of the Office de répartition de l’affichage, a supervisory body created under German control in November 1941.
The main themes covered are:

  • Safety
  • The coal battle
  • Solidarity week
  • Theft
  • Machine sabotage

Some of them were published in magazines but were not deposited with SNCF’s Centre national des Archives historiques.
