Adapted from the memoirs of Daniel Cordier, Alias Caracalla traces the commitment of the man who was Jean Moulin’s personal secretary and one of his colleagues within Free France and the internal Resistance. Broadcast on France 3 in May 2013, this TV movie by Alain Tasma retraces, through his story, the daily life and realities of clandestine commitment.
The film notably evokes the missions of Resistance members, the difficulties of clandestine life and the tensions running through the various movements. It also shows the work undertaken by Jean Moulin to coordinate and unify the Resistance organisations, leading up to the creation of the Conseil national de la Résistance (CNR) in May 1943.
Through the eyes of Daniel Cordier, a direct witness to this period, the TV movie reveals from the inside a history of the Resistance marked by commitment, the risks taken on a daily basis and the gradual building of joint action. A few weeks after the CNR’s first meeting, Jean Moulin was arrested at Caluire-et-Cuire on 21 June 1943.
