This exhibition presents photographs of 4,000 of the 11,400 Jewish children deported from France between 1942 and 1944. It was created by Serge Klarsfeld, historian, lawyer and Nazi hunter, and the Association des fils et filles des déportés juifs de France (Association of the Sons and Daughters of the Jewish Deportees of France), which he chairs.
This exhibition was installed between 2002 and 2004 in around twenty major stations and, symbolically, at SNCF’s headquarters. It was then hosted at the National Assembly and Paris City Hall. One million people saw it.

Here are the stations that presented it:

Route of the exhibition in France, 2002-2004

In October 2004, the touring exhibition ended its journey at SNCF’s head office in Paris. The exhibition’s opening brought together Serge Klarsfeld and Louis Gallois, chairman of SNCF, before members of the Association des fils et filles des déportés juifs de France and SNCF employees.

Since 2013, the exhibition has been permanently installed at the Site-Mémorial du Camp des Milles, near Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône), which is also a museum of history and human sciences. During the Second World War, the Camp des Milles was a disused factory converted into an internment camp. In this place from which around a hundred children were deported, the exhibition, with its collection of rare documents, is particularly moving. Since 2012, SNCF has been involved in the educational work carried out at the memorial site.
