SNCF’s archives relating to the 1939-1945 period have undergone thorough archival processing, making it easier to identify, search and consult them.
The collection includes the archives of the General Management departments, the Central Departments and SNCF’s five Regions. The latter notably include the records of the Regional Directorates, Arrondissements and Establishments. In addition, there are the regulatory texts relating to SNCF’s organisation and operation, as well as a substantial documentary collection devoted to the 1939-1945 period.
The collection is presented here by company department, each section bringing together the various archive records attached to it. This organisation allows researchers to identify more easily, department by department, the files likely to be relevant to their research.
